Welcome to the Art of Alan Russell
I have been interested in art since I was 10 years old. Growing up in Drogheda I have dabbed in different mediums such as pencil, pastels, conte sticks and charcoal. I stopped sketching for many years and in 2009, I received painting lessons as a Christmas present and I haven’t looked back! I got the art bug again and have now been painting since 2009 using acrylic paints.
I now paint bright, vibrant and colourful landscapes, seascapes and streetscapes. My art is different from the “norm” traditional style and my art takes a contemporary twist on traditional artworks.
I have displayed my work in The Abbey Gallery, Drogheda, Co. Louth in part solo exhibitions and I have been successful in selling a number of pieces.
Since moving to Northern Ireland I have created a collection of artworks for local scenes such as “The Giant’s Causeway”, “Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge”, “Downhill Beach”, “Mussendun Temple”, “Dunluce Castle” and “Johann, Cushendun Goat, Cushendun”. I have also painted an image of a local Northern Ireland landscape and it was used for a musicians E.P cover.
I am always thinking of the next scene to paint and I can’t wait to start my next project. I get a buzz out of painting and I really enjoy it.
I am a supplier of prints to the National Trust which are now in the Giant’s Causeway and the Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge centres.
Original art of Dunluce Castle and Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge are on display to view and purchase aswell as large prints on 260gsm white satin photograph paper in White Horses Gallery, Portrush, Northern Ireland.
